Ron Anderson – Chairperson
Ron has been a regular in the Hollyford Valley since the early 1980s and he and his wife, Liz, have owned a property at Whakatipu Waitai/Martins bay since 1994. Ron holds several directorships and is currently chairman of the Arrowtown Retirement Village and a founding director of the Aspiring Village in Wanaka. He was on the Carisbrook Stadium Trust in Dunedin, responsible for the planning, funding and development of the Forsyth Barr Stadium.
Peta Carey
Peta’s formative years were spent working in the Hollyford Valley, Fiordland, followed by a career in documentary filmmaking and writing around the globe. Based in Queenstown, she has had a long association with Whakatipu Waitai/Martins Bay.
Andrew Bowmar
A farmer, and former member of the Southland Conservation Board, Andrew has a strong link to Fiordland dating back to the 1930s when his grandfather, Sir Erskine Bowmar, was one of the early explorers of the region and purchased land at Martins Bay. Andrew continues to enjoy the area with his extended family and children.
Andrew Clegg
Originally from the North Island where his family has their own conservation project in the Coromandel, Andrew is now a long-time resident of Te Anau and has a property at Martins Bay. A keen hunter, fisherman and jet-boating enthusiast, Andrew is passionate about the wilderness and sharing the area with friends and family.
Bard Crawford
With over 400 trips guiding in the Hollyford Valley, Bard now calls Fiordland home. He is highly respected for his extensive knowledge of the ecology, culture and history of the area and does all he can to share that depth of understanding with all who visit.
Kara Edwards
Born and raised in Awarua (Haast), Kara is a direct descendant of Chief Tūtoko of Whakatipu Waitai. A frequent visitor to the area, Kara feels a firm commitment towards the natural environment. Deputy Chairperson of her hapū, Kāti Māhaki, and deeply involved in all Ngāi Tahu affairs, Kara brings unique skills to the trust with extensive experience in regional authorities, the office of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu and is currently employed with the Whenua Kura Charitable Trust as a Relationship Manager as well as a private consultant focused on environmental and rangatahi development programmes.
Andy Lowe
Managing director of Lowe Corporation, based in Hawkes Bay, Andy has been the initiator and vision keeper behind Cape Sanctuary, the largest privately funded mainland wildlife preserve in New Zealand. A relative newcomer to Martins Bay, Andy’s hope is to help restore the environment while continuing to allow people in the area to enjoy the lifestyle that attracts them there.
Simon Hall
Based in Auckland as Executive Chairman of Tasti Foods, Simon Hall is also chairman of the Forest Lifeforce Restoration Trust, which he established in 2006 to restore the ngahere mauri (forest lifeforce) in several North Island native forests. He now also owns a property on Lake McKerrow where he enjoys exploring the surrounding area.
Adam Dooney – Secretary, Treasurer
Adam comes from a tourism background and is currently the Business Manager of the Hollyford Wilderness Experience, a four day private guided walk owned by Ngāi Tahu Tourism. Hollyford Wilderness Experience has a shared vision of conservation in the Martins Bay area and is a strong supporter of the Hollyford Conservation Trust.
Lindsay Wilson – Trust Operations Manager
Lindsay has spent a lifetime working on conservation projects throughout New Zealand and the Pacific. He has been involved with the Trust since the very beginning and has a passion for protecting this special part of Fiordland, particularly through forging partnerships with community and business. He came to the Trust after 25 years working for Department of Conservation, most recently as Biodiversity Manager in Te Anau.
